I too was intrigued at John's response to the lost of followers. He hadn't lost track of his mission, which was to point others to Christ. However, many times pride will keep us trying to keep people clinging to us rather than pointing them to Christ--the one is able to meet all their needs.Wandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07438544740170524813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785238503949165495.post-76682533375524376092010-10-01T01:26:54.037-04:002010-10-01T01:26:54.037-04:00Hi MTJ,

Awesome thoughts on HU...AMEN & Blessings MTJ -

Awesome thoughts on HUMILITY!

I'm working through a study that I started at home in MN with a home group but did not finish & a friend of mine's online is doing this in her church...church wide... so I'm doing it again & finishing it, on "Life's Healing Choices-Freedom from your hurts, hang-ups and habits" by Jon Baker. We all have them.

All this to say that it's based on the Beatitudes: BE ATTITUDES as I see them... and the first one being
"Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God" (an upcoming post)... and I use to think why would any one want to be "poor"... but it actually is to be humble... for one to have humility.

The first step is to REALIZE that we are POWERLESS!!! That takes humility. To admit that we need God to change.

So, I hung on every powerful thought and the great feedback you get.

I am so looking forward to you continuing this discussion on fruit and humility. May each of us humble ourselves and pray... as a nation, as a church body of believers and as individuals in need of repenting. That too takes humility.
TO BE THE ONE TO CHANGE & ADMIT YOU NEED TO CHANGE. We all expect the other one to change but God wants us to decrease, so He may increase.

I love this revelation:
"God empowers me with the ability to think and act by humbling myself in His presence. I do this by recognizing that, I’m always in God’s presence." AMEN!

Always thankful for your prayers that is what drew me here!

Peace in Christ,
PeggyPeggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07178137619890142365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785238503949165495.post-30863518500490121582010-09-30T23:47:16.312-04:002010-09-30T23:47:16.312-04:00MTJ - There were so many things in this very power...MTJ - There were so many things in this very powerful post that spoke to me. I particularly liked this line:
"there are things in one’s life that humility will put to shame."
Here's why I liked that. I tend to think of the word, humility, as a mild, meek, more passive kind of thing. But that sentence you spoke (the one I cited above) turned that idea on its head. Humility as powerful, a state of heart and spirit that God can use AGAINST the enemy. That was an interesting thought for me. Humility, a heart totally yielded to God and His purposes, will COMBAT the things of the devil. Jesus was NEVER more powerful than when He HUMBLED Himself, and laid down His life. In death, the ultimate humility, HE CONQUERED!
"Christ is greater than me." AMEN...

Looking forward to your next post!

GOD BLESS!Sharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00840994989201507494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5785238503949165495.post-14408236638787359892010-09-30T23:34:22.708-04:002010-09-30T23:34:22.708-04:00MTJ -

But humility, as you have so eloquently demonstrated, plays an integral part in God's develop of our character. It shows that it isn't about us, but about Him.

But even more than that, humility keeps us grounded. It keeps us from thinking that we somehow have done the work that made us spiritual, when it's all the work of the Holy Spirit.

Great post MTJ! This is beautifully expressed with power...Hi MTJ -

This is beautifully expressed with powerful reminders of where we need to be in our relationship with the most High GOD.

Humilty is critical; holiness cannot exist without it. There are some Christians who place more emphasis on the gifts of the Spirit than on the fruits of the Spirit. The fruits are foundational to Christianity. May GOD help us all to focus on that which is most vital in our journeys with HIm.

I heard it said, "Meekness is power under control."

In the Bible it states about Moses in Numbers 12:3, "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth."

That was said about a man appointed to confront the king of Egypt, Pharaoh.

And the Bible says about Jesus in
Matthew 11:29, "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:..."

Yet it states about JESUS in Matthew 21:12, "...And Jesus...overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,"

Yes, indeed those are examples of meekness under control.

Sometimes righteous indignation is necessary...but holiness/humility/meekness can be on display in the processes.lioneaglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10257690196451550476noreply@blogger.com
